The installation FLAGS (2018) is made of survival foils in the form of flags placed in the public space along the breakwater.
The flag, which traditionally marks territory and identity, takes on a opposite meaning in this context.
By placing survival foil in the form of flags, this installation subversively communicates a message of welcome to refugees. This suggests that no border or feature of territory should be an obstacle to humanity, especially in times of refugee crisis when many are looking for safety and a better future.
At the same time, the endless transformation of the flag's form under the force of the wind refers to the need and to a possibilty to transform society as well as oneself.
